A little about me....I have been playing music since the age of two, starting initially on the piano when my brothers were having lessons and when I was about four I had my first formal lessons. I took up the violin at primary school too and then added the flute when I was in high school. I have continued to play all three instruments to this day.
I have worked as a Primary School teacher for the past twenty years in Australia and overseas, teaching general subjects as well as being Music specialist. I have directed many school choirs and bands and absolutely love seeing the joy and enthusiasm in the faces of young singers. I have also directed many school musicals and performed in the local area in amateur theatre groups.
I hold a valid working with children check and national police clearance. I have a Bachelor of education degree and ABRSM grade VIII on piano.
Currently I am focusing on piano teaching and singing groups for children and young people.
Your next step will be to decide whether you want to sing or play. Choices, choices. Enjoy the dilemma.
I look forward to speaking to you very soon.
Sue is a brilliant teacher, she is very compassionate and very adapting to what you want and need for your lessons with theoretical and practical training. I loved the books and songs she chose for our lessons and would start back with her anytime if she’d start after-school lessons again. Hands down the best piano teacher I ever had!
I decided to start flute lessons in my late 30’s. Sue was very patient and my lessons were always fun. She is very passionate about music and inspires you to do your best. I found my lessons to be very rewarding and would highly recommend Sue to anyone looking to learn an instrument
At the age of 50 I decided to learn piano and could not have chosen a better teacher than Sue Ross. She was very patient, encouraging and knowledgeable. I have learnt a great deal and consider that I have a very good grounding to move forward confidently. Thank you Sue for sharing your skills and passion for music with me and helping me fulfil a lifelong dream.
A huge thank you for giving my daughters the opportunity to experience being part of the production of “Bugsy Malone”. You obviously put a massive amount of time and effort into the performance and deserve a big thank you!
[She] is an amazing teacher and who feeds our spirits inspiring us to fly. Without you this production wouldn’t have been possible.
Sue Ross was my junior school music teacher and she directed the first two musicals I have ever been in. She not only taught me to perform to my best but also sparked my love for theatre. Without her help, I wouldn’t be at WAAPA today, following my dreams and succeeding in life.
